"Cerebral palsy treatment in Ukraine shown effective"
October 7, 2004
Some Cerebral Palsy (CP) patients have been finding success with a therapy developed in the Ukraine as an effective treatment. Called the Kozijavkin Method, the cerebral palsy treatment is cited as one of the four most effective Cerebral Palsy therapies by the German textbook on child orthopedics.
According to studies using the Ukrainian Cerebral Palsy treatment method, results have appeared promising. Ninety four percent of patients experienced normalized muscle tone, 87 percent were able to open a spastically fisted hand, 75 percent registered improved head control, 62 percent learned to sit alone and 19 percent walked without assistance for the first time.
The Method was created 15 years ago by Prof. Volodymyr Kozijavkin, Ph.D., M.D., and more than 15,000 patients have been treated with it, including an estimated 7,000 Americans. Based on the concept that releasing blockages in spinal joints can interrupt the “vicious circle” of physiological impairments that in turn impede motor skills, the Method was featured in the May 2004 issue of Cerebral Palsy Magazine as a treatment using innovative approaches.
