A new form of therapy that was developed by researchers in Poland has been applauded in the U.S. for helping many children suffering from
cerebral palsy. It was most recently recognized in Iowa by the family of a boy who has reportedly benefited from this form of
therapy.
Child’s Life Enhanced
Team Rehab, which offers Euro Therapy in Iowa, is where 12-year-old Ethan Roggatz spent an entire month working with therapists daily. Roggatz repeatedly woke up early in the morning to get a massage, preceded by a three and a half hour workout on a treadmill and other workout machines with weights. The boy also would spend an hour with therapists, where they would connect him to a system that involved putting pulleys on his body.
“They would put his knee immobilizers on, then attach weights and tell him to flex a certain muscle,” says his mother, Kris Roggatz.
Outcome of Therapy
Therapists working at Team Rehab claim that the goal of this type of therapy is to teach the patient’s brain to train the muscles. As a result of his time doing Euro Therapy, Roggatz has been able to go on bike rides with his family and engage in typical child’s play.
