"
Family Awarded $23M in Cerebral Palsy Settlement"

July 10, 2007

The Jordan family of Pittsburgh, PA, just settled in their suit against West Penn Hospital for the birth defect of their son, Grady.

In one of the largest medical malpractice cases to date in Pennsylvania, the family was awarded $23 million.

The Allegations

Mother, Pamela Jordan alleged that when she went into labor at the West Penn hospital complications began immediately, but the doctors continued to let her go into labor for up to eight hours.

The suit claims that the fetal heart rate monitor showed heart abnormalities when Jordan initially arrived at West Penn.

Grady was delivered by C-section, limp with no heart rate.

According to court reports, there was no specialist in the delivery room until 11 minutes after Jordan gave birth to revive and medicate Grady.

Costly Mistake

Due to the supposed negligence of the hospital, Grady now has cerebral palsy and will never be able to walk or talk clearly.

The Jordan’s claim their son’s disabilities are the fault and responsibility of the hospital and doctor’s who delivered Grady.
