ERBS PALSY

Erbs palsy, also referred to as brachial plexus palsy, is a condition affecting the nerves that control the muscles in the hand and arm. When erbs palsy is present, the brachial plexus nerves have been affected, the area on both sides of your neck. Based on the individual, some erbs palsy patients will have absolutely no muscle control or feeling in their arm or hand. Erbs palsy patients that can move their arms may have little control of their writs and hand, or some erbs palsy patients will be able to use their hands but not their shoulder or elbow.

Treatment

The majority of erbs palsy cases occur during birth. Babies that appear at risk for suffering erbs palsy include larger sized babies, but any delivery size can result in erbs palsy. In 1,000 births, about 1 or 2 babies will suffer erbs palsy. Of these babies born with erbs palsy, 10% will need erbs palsy treatment. Erbs palsy treatment can range from exercise, therapy, surgery, or a combination of all three.

When the erbs palsy has occurred because of malpractice or negligence, erbs palsy parents have rights. Proving a birth injury such as erbs palsy is an extremely difficult process that requires a team of legal experts. Erbs palsy lawyers will have the proven record, knowledge, and resources necessary to bring justice.
